Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is a specialized technique used to remove minor dents and dings from a vehicle's body without damaging the original paint. This method can also be used to repair larger damage if the vehicles finish is not scratched or cracked. PDR is a skill not a product and repair quality varies with every technician.
Here's how it works:
- Assessment: A technician evaluates the damage, considering factors like the size, location and panel material.
- Access: The technician often is able to access damage through already available access points. On larger or more complex damage including hail, interior or exterior parts will need to be removed to repair the damage. Glue Pulling methods are also used as an alternative way of repairing when no access is available.
- Tools: PDR tools, which include rods and glue tabs are used to gently push/pull the dent from the damaged panel. The technician carefully manipulates the metal to restore its original shape.
- Finishing: Once the dent is removed, the surface is blended out, ensuring that it blends seamlessly with the surrounding area.
Benefits of PDR:
- Cost-effective: Generally cheaper than body shop repair methods. Most repairs are less expensive than a deductible. If insurance is used we offer deductible discounts to help our customers.
- Time-efficient: Repairs can often be completed within a day.
- Retains original finish: No repainting insures no color matching issues or finish problems down the road. In most cases the damage is as good as new after the repair. PDR is a skill not a product making the quality of the repair reliant on the individual technician. Not all PDR is equal, choose the best.
- Environmentally friendly: No need for paint or harmful chemicals.
